English	How to cultivate this kind of special insight is like this: Based on the previously accomplished calm abiding, the main part (dngos gzhi) must be engaged through cultivating calm abiding and special insight in alternation at the times of knowing the individual characteristics (mtshan nyid so sor rig pa) and so forth. The Ornament of the Mahāyāna Sūtras states: “Through developing this, it expands and goes afar; abiding in the main part is achieved by this.”412Maitreya, Ornament of the Mahāyāna Sūtras, XV.16ab (D. 4020), 31a; English trans. in Dharmachakra Translation Committee, Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sūtras, 463. At the time of the seventh mental engagement, one enters the main part of the first concentration. Through this, based on the preparation for the summit of existence, one is freed from attachment at Nothing Whatsoever. Then one progressively traverses the eight concentrations and formless absorptions until engaging in the main part of the absorption at the summit of existence. However, if this is without the path that realizes selflessness, it will not be able to eliminate even the manifest afflictions at the summit of existence, so one will not be able to go beyond existence. The Praise Honoring the Honorable One (Varṇārhavarṇastotra) states:

Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to Buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment.
