| English | It is not enough just to be born as a child in the family of the buddhas. From now on, I should act with body, speech, and mind in accordance with the family of the buddhas and bodhisattvas as much as I can. In terms of intention, this family only attends to the pursuit of the welfare of others and is without the flaws of a mindset that pursues peace and happiness for one’s own welfare. In terms of activity, this is a venerable family of the Victor’s children who properly practice the trainings; they are not at all stained by lapsed discipline through committing downfalls or actions that conflict with the trainings. This special family of buddhas and bodhisattvas is free from flaws in the beginning, middle, and end. The fortune of being born into this family that is pure and venerable is an excellent achievement, so I will be careful. I will not stain them with impure intentions and actions that are discordant with this family. I commit to doing this well, with an attitude that regards this as extremely precious; I think that it is fine to explain this stanza in this way as well. |
