English	The object that is turned away are the people who have generated the spirit of awakening toward perfect buddhahood; they have entered the Mahāyāna and are on the path to achieve buddhahood. The motivation is an intention wanting to turn them away from the Mahāyāna. How it is done is by saying to them, “You are not able to become a buddha through practicing the six perfections, so you should cultivate the Hīnayāna spirit of awakening. By this, you can achieve liberation from cyclic existence.” To turn another away from perfect awakening is a defeat. Here it is not sufficient just to turn someone away; it is said that they must cultivate the spirit of an inferior path after they have been turned away.426Tsongkhapa cites Prajñākaramati as saying this in his commentary on the Way of the Bodhisattva. For this defeat and the previous one, if the object is someone who has the bodhisattva vow, then it is also the root downfall of giving up the spirit of awakening, within which this is subsumed and which will be explained below.

Pāramitā - The six or ten types of practices which lead an individual to Buddhahood. The practice of perfections is particularly important in Mahāyāna Buddhism in which the entire path of the Bodhisattva to reach full enlightenment is included in the six or ten perfections. The six perfections are that of giving, of discipline, patience, zeal, meditation, and wisdom. Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment. The Mahāyāna sūtras including those on buddha-nature generally have bodhisattvas as the main audience or interlocutors for the Buddha's discourses. Skt बोधिसत्त्व  Tib བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ།  Ch 菩薩

Bodhisattvasaṃvara - The ethical code or 'vow' taken by a practitioner on the Great Vehicle path. It is a formal commitment to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings, involving the avoidance of selfish actions and the active practice of helping others.
