| English | As it says, you should put your life on the line for the precious sūtras in general and to avoid the root downfalls in particular. Therefore first study them as they are described in the Ākāśagarbha Sūtra and also the Anthology of Training. Also, study treatises like the Bodhisattva Grounds. It is extremely important to become learned and thereby to cut through misconceptions through study and reflection; yet it is not enough merely to become learned. Do not leave it as mere knowledge. You should strive as much as you can to practice the trainings well; nothing will come from a poor person counting the money of the rich. The Collection of Aphorisms says: |
