| English | One should take the vow from someone who holds the bodhisattva vow; it is not sufficient that they simply have the aspirational spirit and adhere to its trainings. It is good that it is accepted in this way. If one finds such a teacher, the vow is to be taken and all the restorations are to be performed in their presence. If there is no such teacher, then it is said to be fine to bring to mind the buddhas of the ten directions, such as Śākyamuni, and take the vow in the presence of the Three Jewels after doing the preparations such as paying homage and going for refuge. |
