| English | Now although in general there is, in the relative truth (taken from among the two truths), no difference between the correct and false relative, nevertheless, from the point of view of worldly understanding, one does make this distinction. When the six sense faculties are undamaged by adventitious illusion, the consciousnesses associated with them are said to constitute a correctly functioning subject, and the forms and so on that are their objects are considered to be correct. By contrast, when the six sense faculties are damaged by adventitious illusion, the associated consciousnesses are considered to be mistaken subjects and their objects—reflected forms, echoes, and so on—are regarded as false objects. Now in the case of correct objects, they do not necessarily exist on the conventional level. For even if they are correct from the point of view of worldly consciousness, like the self—the conceived object of the two kinds of subtle self-clinging—they do not actually exist on the conventional level. In the present [Prāsaṅgika] context, whether the consciousness in question is worldly or not, the matter at hand is whether or not the mind is oriented toward emptiness.
