| English | Mipham’s interpretation of the first of these two lines—as asserting that suchness is not an object of the mind in the ultimate sense—is quite clearly completely untenable. For this reason, the two truths are to be explained in terms of whether or not they are objects of the dualistic mind. This is how it is; there is no other way. In all the earlier and later passages, Mipham’s futile refutations and propositions are all in the same vein. They are incorrect commentarial interpretations that derive from a failure to distinguish whether the meaning of the scriptures is provisional or definitive. And since there are a great many of them and since they are destitute of essential meaning, I shall not waste time in examining them. |
