English

Likewise, when, with regard to all the many mental states that arise, people think that they know them all clearly as this or that, all these states, which arise in the aspect of objects of knowledge, are designated as the conceptual distinguishers of the object.192Tib. yul gyi ldog pa. And when people ask themselves who it is who knows these states, their answer is that it is their own minds, and this is the conceptual distinguisher of the agent or subject.193Tib. yul can byed pa po’i tha snyad ’jug pa’i ldog pa. The clear understanding and experience undergone in a nondual manner by this agent is the conceptual distinguisher of the action.194Tib. bya ba’i ldog pa. How could there be a consciousness on the level of worldly beings in which such simple distinguishers as known object and knowing agent are not posited? And who is in a position simply to declare dogmatically that there could be such a consciousness? Again that is something to think about.
