| English | Therefore the statement that it is clearly shown in all the great texts of the Prāsaṅgika tradition that clinging to true existence is an obscuration of defilement and not a cognitive obscuration is completely unfounded. It is no more than a tendentious statement, and nothing is established thereby. And if it were established, it would be manifestly permissible to say that these quotations are accepted in the same way in the Svātantrika tradition as well.97That is, it would be impossible to claim that such a position is exclusively Prāsaṅgika, whereas the claim that clinging to true existence is a veil of defilement is one of Tsongkhapa’s eight difficult points.
