| English | In the third line of the root verse “You may say that to this there’s no redress,” many commentaries understand the words “to this” to refer to the antidote that overcomes belief in the self, or else to the cause of belief in the self. But this interpretation is difficult to square with what the root text actually says. I therefore think it best to follow the excellent commentaries of the Indian masters and to consider that “this” refers to the self. This, however, is only my own opinion. |
