English

The objects toward whom negative actions have been performed that require purification are: one’s guru, the Triple Gem, parents, and other superiors. The duration is from beginningless samsara until now. The cause is motivation by the three defilements. The bases that perform the sins are the body, voice, and mind. The nature is the ten non-virtues that are known as natural sins, and sins arising from broken vows such as taking food in the afternoon, etc. The application is either performing the sin oneself, asking others to perform it, or rejoicing in others’ performance. The result of the actions is obscuration of liberation and higher rebirth, and falling into samsara and lower rebirth.
