Next they come to an unfordable river that is made of hot ashes or boiling water, and their bodies fall in and sink. Both sides of the river are guarded by powerful guardians holding extremely sharp weapons. Thus the beings are cooked in the river until their flesh and blood are boiled away and their bones become as white as lily flowers. Sometimes their eyes are gouged out by iron hooks and they are hung upside down. The hell guards ask them what they want. The beings reply that they don’t know anything and can’t see anything, but they are hungry and thirsty. Then the guardians pour molten copper mixed with blazing steel balls into their mouths and the beings are completely burned. This is their type of suffering.
