The nature of all phenomena is what is known as the three qualities of sattva, raja, and tama. The state of balance between pain, pleasure, and neutrality is the principal cause of the primordial substance. When these are not in balance, the temporary form aspect arises. Initially, an intellect, also known as a "giant” arises, which is like a very clear double-sided mirror. The person is inside the mirror and objects are outside the mirror. From the outside, objects appear like an image on the surface. When they mix, the person experiences the object. From this arises self pride and from that the five internal sense organs such as the eyes, etc., and the five action organs such as the mouth, hands, legs, genitals, and anus. The awareness organ is the nature of both of these. There are five just thatnesses, such as sound, etc. In total there are sixteen. From the five just thatnesses, arise the five elements, such as space, etc.
