During the night, which is without the sun; in darkness, which is without the moon; under dense clouds, which obscure even the light of the stars, if lightning suddenly flashes, physical objects are momentarily illuminated. Similarly, for one in a hundred beings dwelling in the darkness of samsara, by the power of the light of compassion of the Bhagwan Buddhas, a wish to engage in the holy Dharma for the purpose of themself and other beings may occur. Such a virtuous light of the mind occurs only rarely, and even if it occurs, it does not last long. Therefore, having found this thought, it is right to engage in the conduct of great beings. The Essence of Madhyamika states:
