Other earlier masters explain that the first two verses demonstrate that one should not waste the opportunity of having this human body with leisure and endowment, and advice to make this life meaningful. The first chapter explains how to engage in enlightenment thought. The second and third chapters explain how to develop that enlightenment thought. Then, having generated enlightenment thought, the fourth and fifth chapters show how to guard the precepts in order that they will not decline. What needs to be guarded is the six perfections, which are the nature of the precepts. Out of these six, the first two need to be realized based on the first five chapters. The last four chapters can be understood from their respective titles.
