| English | On the relative level, everything can be perceived as impermanent, multiple, and dependent. On the ultimate level, they all lack any individual inherent nature. Therefore they are not the self. If the self were the same entity as the aggregates, then it would be subject to birth and disintegration. If the self were an entity other than the aggregates, it would lack physical form. Therefore, there is no way whatsoever that the self could exist. The Mula Madhyamika Karika states: |
