For example, on the base of the meditative absorption of the equanimity of nonperception, although the six types of consciousness may cease, this is different from the realization of emptiness that comes through insight meditation, and they will relapse into taking birth. Without realizing emptiness, it is difficult to attain nirvana, which is the pacification of all suffering without exception, and to achieve Arhathood, which is complete abandonment of all defilements without exception.
