They may say: Even though on the ultimate level, the nature of all phenomena is emptiness and all phenomena naturally pass into nirvana, on the relative level, the cycle of birth, old age, illness, and death, etc. constitutes samsara. Therefore, those who have reached Buddhahood and ultimately entered nirvana would also become samsaric beings on the conventional level for the sake of other beings. So, what is the use of performing many hardships for the purpose of attaining such enlightenment? It would be meaningless.
