English

Some scholars explain that beginning a text with the words "Prostrations to the Omniscient Buddha; Ever-youthful Manjushri,” symbolizes that the text belongs to the Tripitaka vinaya; sutra; or abhidharma respectively. Although it is explained thus and this may have been the case in the days of the early Dharma rulers, these days this is less certain. Some translators offer prostrations to their personal chosen deity or to holy beings according to the subject of the text or the content of the tantra.
