The Middle Way is also based on the last sermon, which taught that phenomena are free from the four extremes. They are free of the extreme of existence because they are empty of temporary stains; free of the extreme of non-existence because they are not empty of the nature of the realm of reality; free from both existence and non-existence because these are fundamentally contradictory; and because of rejecting that, they are also free of the extreme of neither. Thus although this can be perceived by ultimate primordial wisdom, it is free from the four extremes.
