| English | In order to abandon defilements, the mind must rest in meditative absorption. Since the ordinary meaningless behavior of worldly childlike beings has already been experienced countless times before, this is enough. From now onward, I will follow the footsteps of many noble wise beings, such as the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Just as a commitment was made to follow their precepts and to remember what was explained about heedful behavior of body, voice, and mind in the fourth chapter and in the Compendium of Precepts, I will exert myself in repelling and abandoning sleep, sluggishness, scattering, regret, and the like which contradict meditative absorption. |
