English

Before engaging in the practice of exchanging self and other, feelings of jealousy, competition, and pride arose toward those perceived to be higher than, equal to, and lower than oneself respectively. Having exchanged self and other, imagine those sentient beings as Bodhisattvas, and now name them "the new self.” Become familiar with those who are lower than, equal to, or higher than oneself as the embodiment of Bodhisattvas. Then oneself is named "the old self.”
