| English | To describe this in more detail, once upon a time, there was a Buddha named Precious Guru Immaculate Moon Exalted King. When that Buddha’s doctrine had nearly diminished, there was a king named Shri Datta who dwelt in a palace known as Container of Jewels. Caught up in misconception, he exiled Bodhisattva Beautiful Moon Flower and others to a forest known as Noble in Every Aspect. Even realizing that his life was in danger, the great Bodhisattva returned to the king’s palace to teach the Dharma, as a result of which hundreds, thousands, and millions of sentient beings were placed in the irreversible state. Then the king ordered his executioner known as Producer of Joy, to gradually cut off the Bodhisattva’s legs and hands, and to extract both of his eyes, which killed him. When the Bodhisattva died, from his body, an amazing number of auspicious signs occurred. The king regretted his action, and supplicated the Bodhisattva. This was taught in the Samadhi Raja Sutra. |
