| English | In the beginning, if wealth is lacking, it must be searched for, which is the suffering of accumulation. In the middle, there is the fear of the wealth being wasted or lost, which is the suffering of guarding it. In the end, the wealth will be taken by thieves or others, which is the suffering of losing it. Thus wealth is continuous suffering and produces constant anxiety in the beginning, middle, and end. Realize it as the root that produces suffering. Those whose minds are completely distracted by attachment to wealth have no time for meditation and therefore no opportunity become free of the suffering of samsara and to attain liberation. A Letter to a Friend states:52Quoted from Arya Nagarjuna’s A Letter to a Friend, Verse 35. |
