| English | Another reason to please sentient beings is that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, who perform inconceivable benefit for oneself and all sentient beings, are the exalted spiritual friends of limitless sentient beings, without deceit or cunning. For those who wish to repay their kindness, there is no method other than pleasing sentient beings. By what other means can the Buddhas be repaid? There is none, and so therefore I must please sentient beings. The holy ones have given their bodies, limbs, and even heads as gifts solely for the happiness and benefit of sentient beings, and performed such great austerities that they even dared to enter Avici hell to benefit others. |
