English

One may wonder whether because the causer of harm has created conditions for my accumulation of patience, won’t great merit arise for the causer of harm? The answer is that merit arises for me, the meditator of patience, because I guard my own mind from angry thoughts and meditate upon thoughts of loving kindness and compassion. The causers of harm have no thought of virtue. Therefore, what merit can they gain at this point? No merit is gained and they will fall into hell.
