English

If the self meets other simultaneously arising conditions but remains the same as before, then what did those conditions contribute to the self that did not exist before? They could not have contributed anything. Hence, how can the so-called simultaneously arising conditions connect with the self? There could not be any connection because they are separate entities, and therefore cannot be connected into a unitary self. Also, they are not related in the sense that one arises from the other, because they are not a cause and a result.
