| English | One may wonder, isn’t this contradictory to the earlier statement that morality may be held in a neutral state at the time of giving? The answer is that one should carefully analyze the size of the virtue, whether large or small; superior or inferior, and whether it will primarily benefit other beings or not. It is said that to accomplish a vast act of giving, morality may be held in a neutral state. Also it is said that one should arise from absorption in meditation to give a gift of Dharma to the masses. These and other statements demonstrate that one should consider which is superior, and which is of greater benefit. |
