If, as the Hearers believe, the perfection of giving is accomplished by completely eliminating the poverty of every sentient being, then, as there are still countless destitute impoverished beings, how could the previous Buddhas have accomplished the perfection of giving? They would advance the argument that the Buddhas did not accomplish the perfection of giving as the poverty of all sentient beings is yet to be dispelled. This argument is not to be believed. The previous Buddhas have each completely accomplished the perfection of giving, and therefore they attained the state of Buddhahood.
