English

The enemies are the following defilements: hatred and anger toward the other side, attachment and craving toward one’s own side, ignorance and delusion toward the nature of phenomena, and other defilements. These and other enemies that are defilements cannot cause harm by legs that kick, hands that strike, or weapons that injure. Neither do they have the courage to perform brave exploits, nor the wisdom to be able to judge. How can these defilements still exploit me like a powerless slave and thus cause suffering? Therefore, it is right to abandon them.
