The six motivations are:

- Being unsatisfied with giving only the seven precious jewels such as gold, lapis lazuli, crystal, black pearl, and the like with as many emanation bodies as there are grains of sand on the Ganges River to every sentient being every moment for as many eons as there are grains of sand on the Ganges River is insatiability. For the same duration of time, and the same number of bodies as just described, if even the three worlds of existence were to be completely filled with blazing fire, to still preserve the four types of conduct, despite lack of any material possessions and to look forward to practices such as morality and the like is the motivation of insatiable engagement. - To not allow decline for even a single moment, and to continue to practice uninterruptedly until enlightenment is reached is vast motivation. - To have the joy of thinking that sentient beings benefit me outshone by the joy of benefiting sentient beings through the six perfections is the motivation of joy. - Thinking that as the beings who received benefit have become my spiritual friends, they greatly benefited me, yet I did not benefit them very much is the motivation of beneficial thought. - Not having any expectation of reward or result in response from those who received benefit is motivation without defect.

- Thus sharing all meritorious deeds with all sentient beings collectively, and completely dedicating them to achieving great enlightenment is virtuous motivation.
