English	Getting what I do not want, And all that hinders my desire— In discontent my anger finds its fuel. From this it grows and beats me down. Everything that produces uncomfortable and unwanted situations (such as the loss of possessions) both for ourselves and our sphere of interest, and all that is a hindrance to getting what we want in terms of property and well-being—all these produce a state of mental annoyance, and this is fuel for anger and hatred. For just as it is food that makes the body grow, it is unhappiness of mind that gives rise to anger and resentment. And anger it is that lays in ruins every kind of mental goodness. Thus it is essential to overcome such states of unhappiness, for they are the food on which our anger feeds.
