The Trisaṃvarakrama ("Stages of the Three Vows") is a short liturgical text by the Indian master Niṣkalaṅkavajra presenting the sequential ritual procedures for a householder bodhisattva to take the three vows: the one-day upavāsa precepts, the lay upāsaka vows (modeled on the five precepts of the arhats), and the generation of bodhicitta. The bodhicitta section distinguishes between the conventional aspiration and its ultimate aspect, to be cultivated through meditation. The text was translated into Tibetan by the Indian scholar Atulyadāsa together with the great translator Blo ldan shes rab.
