St. Petersburg University Press is the publishing house of Saint Petersburg State University, Russia's oldest university, founded in 1724 by decree of Peter the Great. Established in 1946, the press publishes theoretical, experimental, and practical research from the university's research institutes and schools, including scholarly monographs and the journal Vestnik SpbU (Вестник Санкт-Петербургского университета). The journal's editorial board is drawn from prominent academic researchers producing leading work in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and its content spans seventeen subject series—including History; Philology and Oriental Studies; and Philosophy, Conflict Studies, Cultural Studies, and Religion Studies, several of which have carried scholarship relevant to Buddhist and Tibetan studies.
