The Philosophy Documentation Center (PDC) is an academic publisher and service provider founded in 1966 at Bowling Green State University in Ohio by Ramona Cormier and Richard Lineback, who recognized a need to improve access to the growing body of philosophical literature in English and other languages. Its first publication was The Philosopher's Index, providing bibliographic listings of recently published journal articles in philosophy. The PDC is now headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, and publishes academic journals, conference proceedings, anthologies, reference works, and academic databases, and also provides membership management and electronic publishing services, hosting electronic journals and series from several countries. Its publishing program covers applied ethics, classics, philosophy, and religious studies. Among its journals is Environmental Philosophy, the official journal of the International Association for Environmental Philosophy, published by the PDC on behalf of the Association.
