Zhangtön Darma Gyaltsen was a Kadampa monk who was affiliated with a place called Stabs ka (Tapka). This was the seat of the Tapka lineage and one of the three monastic sites founded by the great Geshe Tapkawa, a place where the explanation of the Abhidharmakośa and the Vinaya flourished for a long time. Zhangtön's known teacher was Naljorpa Rinchen Gyalsten (Rnal 'byor pa rin chen rgyal mtshan). His student was Tapkawa Changchub Zangpo (Tab ka ba byang chub bzang po). (Source: BDRC)
