Owen Flanagan
Owen Flanagan is a philosopher at Duke University (James B. Duke Professor), specializing in philosophy of mind, ethics, moral psychology, and cross-cultural philosophy. He received his PhD from Boston University in 1978, taught at Wellesley for 15 years, then moved to Duke in 1993. He's also affiliated with Duke's psychology and neuroscience programs.
He's a prolific author — notable books include Consciousness Reconsidered, The Bodhisattva's Brain: Buddhism Naturalized, and The Geography of Morals—and has held prestigious fellowships at Stanford and the National Humanities Center.
