Description
In this video, His Holiness the Dalai Lama discusses the vital importance and benefits of bodhicitta, the altruistic aspiration to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. He emphasizes that bodhicitta is the main cause of becoming a Buddha, explaining that the Buddha cultivated this mind of enlightenment for three countless aeons. The Dalai Lama notes that if one's mind is relaxed and at peace through developing bodhicitta, the practitioner will enjoy good physical health, sound sleep, and happiness day and night. He shares his personal practice of generating bodhicitta every morning upon waking, and explains that when you have bodhicitta, anger, hatred and jealousy subside, allowing you to be relaxed and sleep soundly. The teaching underscores that bodhicitta is not merely about overcoming mental afflictions but represents the essential path to reaching full enlightenment.
