The Société des Lettres et des Sciences was a learned society based in Louvain (Leuven), Belgium, which served as the original publisher of
Le Muséon from its founding. Volumes 1–15 of
Le Muséon (1882–1896) were published by the Société des Lettres et des Sciences, Louvain. The journal was printed by the Louvain printing house of Ch. Peeters and described as an international review published by the Société des Lettres et des Sciences and the Athénée Oriental.
Le Muséon: Revue d'Études Orientales was established in 1881 by Charles de Harlez, is subsidized by the government of Belgium and the Catholic University of Louvain, and is currently published biannually by Peeters Publishers.
