Komitet Nauk Orientalistycznych
The Committee of Oriental Studies (KNO) of the Polish Academy of Sciences, established in 1952, coordinates Oriental studies research in Poland. Originally having nine members, it expanded to 39 by 2002, with Piotr Taracha serving as current chairman since 2020. The KNO focuses on Asian and African humanities and social sciences, organizing conferences, publishing scholarly works, and maintaining international cooperation. It publishes the monograph series "Prace Orientalistyczne" (founded 1954) and the journal "Rocznik Orientalistyczny." The committee evaluates Polish Oriental journals, recommends works for scientific awards, and has organized numerous international symposiums throughout its history, contributing significantly to Polish Oriental studies development.
