Heirakuji Shoten (平楽寺書店)

The founding of Heirakuji Bookstore dates back to the Keicho era. Murakami Jyotoku, a samurai from Tanba, moved to Kyoto and started a bookseller. He eventually expanded into publishing. That is the root of Heirakuji Bookstore.

In 1913, the 11th generation Murakami Kanbei transferred all of his business to Inoue Jisaku. He officially renamed the company "Heirakuji Bookstore" and began publishing Nichiren sect books and scriptures. Inoue Shiro then took over the business, and today, under the leadership of CEO Inoue Hajime, the business is run with the philosophy of "educating and spreading Buddhist ideas through publications."
