Centre de recherche sur les civilisations de l'Asie orientale
Founded in 2006, the Centre de recherche sur les civilisations de l'Asie orientale (CRCAO) - UMR 8155 is a CNRS joint research unit under the auspices of the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE), the Collège de France and the University of Paris. It is directed by Sylvie Hureau.
The CRCAO's research activities cover all the countries of East Asia, and focus on transnational issues. However, the center is organized into three teams:
- Chinese Civilization team
- Japanese Civilization Team
- Tibet, Bhutan and Tibetan Cultural Area Team (TBACT)
- Research in each of these areas remains at the heart of the center's activities.
The Revue d'études tibétaines is an annual journal published by the Center since 2002, which can be consulted online and downloaded free of charge.
The journal Études Mongoles & Sibériennes, Centrasiatiques & Tibétaines, EMSCAT, is produced in partnership with the CRCAO as part of the Centre d'études mongoles et sibériennes of the École pratique des hautes études.
The Center collaborates with the Publications de l'Institut des hautes études japonaises and the Institut des hautes études chinoises, the Bibliothèque chinoise des Belles Lettres and the Collection " Hautes études orientales, Extrême-Orient " of the École pratique des hautes études (Librairie Droz).
