Centre for Buddhist Studies, Sri Lanka
The Centre for Buddhist Studies, Sri Lanka is credited as co-publisher, alongside the Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong (BDCHK), of the Journal of Buddhist Studies (ISSN 1391-8443), an annual peer-reviewed periodical covering Buddhist philology, doctrine, and textual studies across Pāli, Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Chinese sources. The journal has been in publication since at least the mid-1990s/2000s under this joint imprint, with recent volumes (e.g., Vol. XX, 2023; Vol. XXI, 2024) continuing the pairing. The founding and long-serving editor is Ven. Prof. K. L. Dhammajoti (法光), who also directs BDCHK; his own academic career began at the University of Kelaniya's Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (Vidyalankara campus) before he relocated to the University of Hong Kong. No independent institutional record (address, staff roster, founding date, or website) for the Centre as a freestanding Sri Lankan body has been located; it appears to function primarily as a Sri Lanka-side publication credit tied to Dhammajoti's academic origins rather than as an organization with separate infrastructure from BDCHK.
