Bodhi Prakāśana Kendra

Bodhi Prakāśana Kendra (बोधि प्रकाशन केन्द्र, "Bodhi Publication Center") is a publishing organization based in Lalitpur (Yala/Patan), Nepal, dedicated to the publication of Buddhist texts in the Newari language. Located in the historic center of Newar Buddhist scholarship, the organization reflects a broader tradition of Newar vajrācārya scholars producing vernacular translations of Sanskrit Mahāyāna classics for local Buddhist communities. Its 1986 publication of Divyavajra Vajrācārya's Newari translation of Śāntideva's Bodhicaryāvatāra together with Prajñākaramati's Pañjikā commentary represents a significant contribution to the living tradition of Newar Buddhist literature, which since the mid-twentieth century has seen traditional paṇḍitas and scholars produce complete Newari translations of major Sanskrit Buddhist works including the Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā, the Lalitavistara, and the Saddharmapuṇḍarīkasūtra.

Bodhi - Enlightenment or awakening. In Tibetan it is translated as "purified" (byang) and "perfected" (chub), which corresponds to Siddhartha Gautama's achievement of purifying all obscurations and perfecting or attaining all qualities associated with a buddha. Skt बोधि  Tib བྱང་ཆུབ་  Ch 菩提;悟;覺

Prajñāpāramitā - A class of Mahāyāna sūtras which represents some of the earliest known literature of this genre of Buddhism. There are around forty texts associated with this category, though the most widespread is the exceedingly brief Prajñāpāramitāhṛdayasūtra, popularly known as the Heart Sūtra. This class of literature is typically associated with the second turning of the dharma wheel and especially with the teachings on emptiness (śūnyatā).
